I personally came to bodywork from a strong background in traditional martial arts. Studying T’ai Chi, Kenpo, Aikido and Iaido in my late teens and into my twenties taught me a lot about being in my body in a mindful and intentional way. I credit my attuned intuition and understanding of body mechanics to these studies in movement and art.

In 2002 I graduated from East West College of Healing arts with a training focused in Deep Tissue, Sports and Integrative Massage. Since my training I have continued to expand my knowledge in bodywork through classes and workshops such as; Cupping Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Infant Massage Instruction, Trigger Point Therapy and Thai Massage.

I became a mom in 2007 with the birth of my first daughter, her sister arrived in 2009. Raising two wonderful, active daughters keeps me busy. In my “spare time” I love to dance, garden and travel. I really enjoy being a massage therapist, and I look forward to working with you!

In 2005, I graduated from East West College of the Healing Arts in Portland. In the years since, I have been continually grateful for the opportunity life has given me to be in this profession. Massage is an
ancient and powerful tool in wellness. It aids in reducing muscle tension, alleviating pain and decreasing mental and emotional stress.

The human body is an amazing and temporary gift for our time on earth; we should enjoy it, treat it with respect, and nourish it so that it can carry us through the years in relative comfort. I have been classically trained in Swedish massage but my personal practice focuses on deep tissue and sports massage. Additionally, I incorporate Thai massage, trigger point and Chinese cupping into my sessions.

I would describe my style of massage as confident, deep, focused, perceptive, attuned and therapeutic. I truly love what I do and I believe that sentiment is translated to the quality
and skill of my work.

I received my training at the Desert Institute of Healing Arts in Tucson, Arizona.  My education emphasized medical massage, including massage for people with cancer and injury rehabilitation.  Since graduating in 2005, my eagerness to continue learning led me to complete a 550-hour program in Zen Shiatsu, which helped to further awaken my intuition and energetic sensitivity.  In my massage/shiatsu practice, I have worked with a wide variety of ailments, from depression and insomnia, to fibromyalgia and chronic migraines, successfully providing much needed relief to these clients.  I have done tons of bodywork on bikers, from racers to everyday commuters. I also spend a lot of time on a bike myself, so I feel that this is a particular area of expertise for me.

I got into doing bodywork because I have a strong interest in health and an equally strong impulse to nurture life.  I believe the human body is an amazing, wise, sacred miracle.  That is what makes my work meaningful to me.  I really do believe that, “If you haven’t got your health, you haven’t got anything.”

Some of my favorite activities are riding my bike, dancing, baking, camping, star gazing, and truth seeking.  Biking is a big part of my life, and a bike-friendly city in addition to ecological consciousness and alternative medicine in the mainstream is what originally attracted me to Portland.

I recognize the role of stress reduction in preventative care and health maintenance.  I am also an advocate of massage for pure relaxation and enjoyment.  My approach to bodywork is to support the body’s innate ability to heal itself, and the mind’s ability to enjoy the present moment.  I facilitate healing with a soothing, intuitive touch and a deep respect for body wisdom.

I moved to Oregon from Wales in 1996 after completing a BA in Fine Art, painting and printmaking. I joined a collective printmaking studio, and continue to explore further into anatomy through intaglio printmaking.

This curiosity and enthusiasm for the structure of the body led me to study Massage at East West College of Healing Arts. After graduating in 2003 I continued to learn more about Sports and Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release and Craniosacral Therapy; and brought all of these things together during a two year long apprenticeship in Biodynamic Massage.

Biodynamic massage is a blend of deep tissue techniques with the quiet listening of craniosacral therapy. It tends to be a more meditative experience of massage, using slower deep pressure, staying with each dense or potent place until there is a felt change in the tissues.

This is particularly good for specific problem areas of pain, spasm or tightness. When needed, I will work with just one area of the body for the entire session, in order to take the amount of time necessary to go deeply into the issues presented and encourage a healthy and
lasting improvement.
